ARTIST STATEMENT
I am interested in the physical act of drawing with paint.
The cumulative drawing-painting act composes via the synthesis and segmentation of figures, colors, and patterns.
The subjects inhabit fractured phantom bodies in dynamic resistance against forced theft of self.
They are alchemized by paint as uniquely omnipresent others.
When a person enters the world already subject to transaction, exchange, and displacement, the whole degrades to a disjointed and performative negotiation.
Deficient existence depends on a staged, externally authored reality.
Sunk below this theater are remnants longing for cohesion and resurrection in the absence of hope and truth.
In my work, the whole has been reconstructed from pieces, with Humpty Dumpty consequences.
Full resurrection is not possible.
The forged being is forever altered.
New, imperfectly birthed entities emerge from this alchemy as patched paintings, music, and narratives.
These visual and auditory acts of punk feminine defiance exist as a reclamation of the aggrieved, a necessary remedy to recalibrate the world.
